“Homegrown” by the Zac Brown Band
This song just feels good. I love these guys and I’m really excited for the upcoming fourth album. I think it’s going to be the best to date.
“Brothers Osborne EP” – Brothers Osborne
I just purchased tickets to see Eric Church in April, a decision that was largely due to his opening act: The Brothers Osborne. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Eric Church and I’ve seen him in concert before, but man the Brothers Osborne have a sound unlike anything I’ve heard in modern country. You might be familiar with their summer hit “Rum,” but definitely listen further if you haven’t yet. You won’t be disappointed. Their debut single (not on the EP) “Let’s Go There” is another favorite of mine.
“Sunshine & Whiskey” – Frankie Ballard
I think I’ve decided this is my favorite country record of 2014. Frankie Ballard serves up fresh, modern-sounding country music with new and compelling lyrical themes (“Don’t Tell Mama I Was Drinking” and “Tip Jar”) that are a breath of fresh air amidst a sea of ‘beer-truck-barefoot girl’ songs. Frankie can actually play the guitar pretty darn well too, which is always a plus in my book!
